Why You Might Not Want To Buy As Is

by Jeffery Christians

The dangers of buying as-is homes and what you need to keep in mind.

Is buying an as-is home a trap? If you’re not already aware, when homeowners sell their homes as is, they’re asking buyers to purchase the house in its current condition. They don’t want to do any repairs or upgrades before the sale.

“Just because a home is listed as is doesn’t mean there are a lot of issues with it.”

Sellers are still required to provide a disclosure for as-is listings, and while the home may look great, there still might be some major issues down the road. That’s why it’s important to know what you’re getting into with as-is listings. You can still get a home inspection, but you have to realize that any repairs you want to make will have to come out of your pocket.

Just because a home is listed as is doesn’t mean there are a lot of issues with it. Sometimes sellers just want to move quickly and don’t care about getting top dollar, or they might not have the funds to make repairs.

Buying an as-is home can be a huge gamble, and you need to decide if you’re willing to take that gamble or not. If any problems come up with the home, you’ll have to pay for them, but buying as is can also come with some advantages.
